Introduction
Centurion Safety Products Ltd experienced a sudden increase in demand for its respiratory products due to a competitor withdrawing from the marketplace. This was putting their traditional manufacturing process under unsustainable strain. WLP were asked to help them
overcome their capacity constraint.
What We Did:
- trained key members of the manufacturing team in relevant lean tools
- working with and on the shop floor, we mapped the existing process to identify wasted time
- coached the team to develop a “to be” process involving changes to layout and process flow
- mentored the team in presenting to the board to gain agreement to implement
Results
The proposed process was approved for implementation. Within 4 months the team has implemented the changes resulting in a 67% increase in output and 50% increase in productivity.
