Finding the right legal resources

From time to time everyone has to seek guidance on legal matters, and when the time comes, there are a number of factors to take into account. For instance, you do not want to overpay for services.  Most importantly, you need to ensure that you are getting sound advice from someone who is good at what they do and familiar with the type of issue that you are dealing with.

You need to know that the solicitor or firm you are going to use are well respected and really experts in the field.  The firm you usually use may produce good work for you in employment, but it does not necessarily follow that they will be able to produce the same quality of work when you ask for advice on insurance.  Negotiating a 3 year lease for a shop or a building for £30,000 per year is likely to be best handled economically by your local solicitor who will know about the local area, landlords and local practice.  However, where the values are much higher and the downside of getting it wrong or perhaps getting nowhere with a claim of £500,000 then a different approach is appropriate.

You can use the legal 500 website to check credentials. It contains details of each law firm and the lawyers that specialise in the field you are interested in, and ranks them on their expertise, so that you can ensure you are getting legal advice from the most qualified solicitors available.
